What Is a Pawn Shop?
A pawn shop operates
by offering loans to
people in exchange for personal items that hold some value.
The items are considered collateral but are things that a bank won’t accept
to approve a loan. Instead of charging interest, a pawn shop will hold the
item for a specified time. If you don’t repay the loan in that amount of time,
the item is sold at market value to recoup the original loan amount.
First, You Pawn Your Item
When you bring in an item to
Howard’s, the first thing we’ll ask is
how much money you want to borrow.
We will loan you that amount, or we will make a fair offer on the item you’re using as collateral. All you
need is 10 minutes, a signature, and a driver’s license. We pay cash, same day, for loans on items we
deem valuable enough to support the loan amount. We will store your item in a safe place for the
thirty days, or until you have repaid the loan amount, whichever comes first.
Pickup or Pawn
We offer a thirty-day repayment window.
Once we have agreed on the loan amount and you are on your way with cash in hand, you have thirty days to either pay back the loan in full and pick up your item, or extend the loan for another thirty days by paying one month’s convenience fee. Loan extensions are available for an unlimited amount of time — until you are ready to pick it up.
Getting Your Item Back
Many people will pawn their items, intending to take the money and never coming back for their item, and that’s just fine.
We love selling unique pieces to our customers. However, if your goal is to get your item back, our goal is to help you
do just that. We understand that circumstances change, and times can be tough. Give us a call if you’re afraid you’ll
